Becoming a Great Boss

,

I want to address the topic of being a “Great” Boss, since in a previous article I touched upon the high price of missing out on working with one. So, who stands at the top of the boss list? If you’re looking to become a superboss, which areas of yourself should you develop?

1) If you can recognize and develop exceptional talents with unusual profiles)and train new leaders,

2) If you try to hire people who are smarter than you and value the creativity and flexibility (freedom) of your team,

3) If you are willing to shape your team and organization accordingly when necessary, so that the talent you have can shine and develop,

4) If you are open to the talents you have trained taking advantage of external opportunities that will take them even further, accept that birds can fly from the nest, and feel happy and proud of this,

then you’re a candidate for a superboss.

According to research, some common characteristics of these bosses are self-confidence, competitiveness, and imagination. After all, if you think about it, would someone lacking self-confidence hire people who are smarter than themselves? I think competitiveness here refers to expecting the best from those you have trained. Finally, imagination is essential for providing a work environment where people can shine and where they are allowed to take risks. These bosses are also honest and unafraid to be their genuine selves. A person with nothing to be ashamed of has no reason to fear authenticity.
